“Woolly warmth for the whole family!”
A basket near the front door heaped with these Family Slippers makes for the warmest of welcomes. Our version of these nostalgic slippers evolved from several versions of the pattern found in every auntie’s knitting bag. In our free pattern, we’ve finessed the toe a little, but left the heel in its simplest form. Embellish your slippers with pompoms, tassels, or buttons—or try our split cuff for a preppy, Oxford shirt look!
We chose to knit these Family Slippers in —a chunky-weight 100% wool yarn from Brooklyn Tweed. Inspired by roving-style yarns, Quarry is light and lofty, but has a little more strength and stitch definition. Warm and woolly, it softens nicely after hand-washing!

FINISHED SIZES
Small: 6 ½""/16.5cm length, fits up to 8 ½""/22cm foot.
Medium: 8""/20cm length, fits up to 10""/25cm foot.
Large: 9 ½""/24cm length, fits up to 11 ½""/29cm foot.
Note: These slippers actually fit a wide range of sizes but the more they stretch to fit, the better they stay on! If you’d like to adjust the length, the heel should be about two-thirds of the total length and the toe about one-third. Directions given for small size; medium and large sizes in parentheses ( ).
YARN
1 skein (200 yds/182m each); Or approx. 75 (100, 150) yds/69 (91, 137)m of a similar chunky- or bulky-weight yarn that can be knit to gauge when held singly.

Note: If you opt for the split cuff, remember to purchase more yarn; the cuff requires 25% more yardage.
NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 8 (5mm) or 9 (5.5mm) needles, or size to obtain gauge.
2 stitch markers.
